The CUK directive that “You can meet and exercise with ‘1 person’ who is not a member of your household\, provided that you maintain social distancing of at least 2 metres” will be updated today\, and effective from Monday June 1st. to reflect the new ‘6 people’ rule!  So…. from next week I intend to arrange ‘small group rides’ of 6 members  (referenced ‘sgr’) twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays from the Castle at 10am. unless otherwise advised. There are a number of ‘life-support’ businesses open and distancing-equipped\, and the leader of each sgr will have to check them out before going – I can do this for them if asked. Please remember that the ‘6 riders’ includes the leader and a volunteer ‘backup’ on the day\, so the first 5 members to book a ride will go! There will be no additional riders and no ‘guest riders’ – only 6 go!   All the usual ride etiquette and safety rules continue to apply and radios provided.\n\nI will get a forward ride plan ready and published asap\, but I need volunteer leaders & destinations as quickly as possible please! I will take next Wednesday 3rd. June to ‘Cribbys’ at the airport\, via a cross-country route Pete Morgan and I tried yesterday and has not been done before – hybrid bike/all sorts of terrain\, 24-ish miles –check your bike before going!\n\nI need volunteer leaders for Wednesdays 10\,17 & 24  – and Fridays 5\, 12\, 19 & 26. For obvious reasons I need to fill the earlier dates very quickly!\n\nTo maintain service to members\, I would ask you to pre-book your ride place by e-mail to me please\, I will confirm and fill each date on a first-come-first-served basis! DESCRIPTION:CHRISTINE WILL LEAD THE RIDE TO THE SHACK\, MUSCLIFF \n\nOur intrepid explorer\, aka Captain Morgan had this to report on 18.02.20: \nIFord Lane is closed to traffic at the railway bridge\, but bikes can get through (may have to be “pedestrians”). We have to use this road as the path through the fields is flooded.The track from the A35 alongside the river\, to Tesco\, is impassable due to flooding. \nThe road at the bridge over the A338 is flooded.  I would suggest that the ride uses the pavement on the right of Castle Lane East\, goes up past Tesco and the hospital\, under the A35 at the roundabout\, then continues on the pavement on Castle Lane East\, turning right on to Ibbertson Road\, and then straight on to Throop Road which will take riders to Muscliff.(I only rode it to the start of Throop Road\, so don’t know condition of route from there on\, but I stopped a car coming down Throop Road and the driver told me there were a few big puddles but I would be able to traverse them without difficulty.) \nOf course the floods may have receded by Friday…. KEEP EVERYTHING CROSSED WHEELERS!!!
