SUMMARY:Ride to High Corner Inn\, Mockbeggar (Pete C)
DESCRIPTION:‘High Corner Inn’ at Mockbeggar (North of Ringwood) \n(For those wishing for a shorter ride\, there will be an option to stop at Ringwood) \n\n\n\nOur route will take us down to Sainsbury Roundabout and up the track shadowing the Christchurch Bypass. We’ll then head towards Ringwood via the lanes. \nBefore we get too Ringwood we’ll take the road to Crow Poulner and Hightown. \nWe cycle through Crow and Hightown and on to Poulner.  We will then see a sign post which states that our next destination (Linwood) is 2½ miles away\, they tell porky pies! We then take the Linwood route over undulating roads (it’s nearly all down hill on the way back). The route to Linwood is some of the best scenery in the New Forest and is not to be missed. After passing 2 pubs The Alice Lyle and The Red Shoot we will arrive at the High Corner view point and down the hill leads us to the High Corner Inn. The most remote pub in the forest it’s certainly out in the sticks!! \nWe should arrive the High Corner Inn about 12:00 hr! They are open until 14:30 hr for food and the bar closes at 15:00 hr – we should be well gone by then. They serve coffee\, snacks\, lunches and beers. \nPete will ring the pub when we leave the castle to get an idea of numbers so they can be ready for us. \nIt’s 11 miles to Ringwood and a further 5 miles to the High Corner Inn making a total of 16 miles each way. \nNot sure what time we will be back at the castle – depends on how long we’re at the pub!

SUMMARY:Woodpecker Cafe\, Queens Park\, Bournemouth - (Peter M)
DESCRIPTION:Distance:\nAbout 22-23 miles\n\nRoute: \nVia Tuckton Bridge north to Iford\, crossing A35\, north to cross A338 on the footbridge – I think most of us know the route this far – then west to cross Castle Lane West on pedestrian crossing\, from which a mixture of roads and paths takes us up to the cafe\, including a couple of short steep hills if we go through the park\, or a longer less steep route if we stick to the roads – decide on the day.\n\nThe cafe serves a selection of cakes and snacks\, and has a licensed bar. There is a covered first floor terrace\, or we can sit inside. Bikes can be secured to a couple of bike stands\, or to fences.\nBack home via roads to Castle Lane West\, then return on same route as outward journey\, aiming to be back in Highcliffe 13.00-13.30.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Cycling For Fun - Remembrance Sunday Ride
DESCRIPTION:UPDATED:  SATURDAY 09 NOVEMBER\, 16:44 hr: \nAfter the variety of weather today\, it looks better tomorrow so meet at 09:30 hr for a spin to Burley poppies to the fore. \nIf in doubt please check emails at 8.15 Sunday morning. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRemembrance Sunday Ride to Burley \nProposed ride\, which will give friends the opportunity to join the small service (if desired) held outdoors at the memorial in Burley. \nSuggested route to avoid muddy tracks etc is as follows: \nHighcliffe to the Cat and Fiddle\, then on towards Bransgore taking the road towards Holmsley then on to Burley for coffee/breakfast. \nReturn via Thorney Hill and the long incline then down through Bransgore and back to Christchurch then the castle. \nUsing the suggested route we will not encounter road closures which would affect us\, but a 9.30 am start should enable us to miss most traffic at the Cat and Fiddle and get to Burley in time for any service and refreshments. \nPlease check emails on Sunday morning around 8.15am in case the weather fails to deliver a dry morning! \nHope to see you Sunday.

SUMMARY:'Quiz Ride' to American Diner\, Boscombe Pier (Ned)
DESCRIPTION:The plan is simple – to meet at the Castle approx 0945-1000am Weds \nThe intention is to ride the ‘usual’ road and sea prom route to the American Diner Cafe just past Boscombe Pier. \nRide length about 20 miles and any old bike will do. \nThe only difference is to set off in small groups of 2\,3 or 4 every few minutes and self guide via the normal well used route on road and prom to the cafe. \nEach group will take a list of the route (in case you have forgotten) complete with a question sheet of 20 Q’s to be answered on route.  The questions are simple and are based on what you can see at certain locations\, you will not need to enter any building.  If you can’t see any obvious answer simply keep on the route to the next question and do not worry about it. \nUpon arrival at the American Diner secure your trusty steed and enter the cafe for your usual coffee etc. Then as you await the others at the cafe\, open an envelope that you will have been given and answer the next 20 general knowledge questions.  Ned and Judi will leave last and act as sweep up for any stragglers. \nThe answers will be revealed at the cafe and at great personal expense a wonderful prize will be awarded to the winning group. \nOnce we are all fed and watered the intention is to return to as a ‘GROUP‘ Ride…………. \nFor anyone that does not want to bother with the question sheet it is not a problem\, either cycle to the cafe at you own speed\, or with one of the groups\, or with Ned & Judi and join the others at the cafe prior to the group ride back. \nPS: \na. If anyone is worried about the cycle along the prom do not fret as you can select to ride on the coast road to the cafe. \nb. Ned and Judi will provide the Route & Question Sheet and a little verbal briefing prior to leaving \nc. Bring the odd pen or pencil \nd. This is nothing serious its just meant to be a bit of fun and something different!
