An eventful but enjoyable ride.
Tim (leader) appeared at the Castle without a bike! He had a puncture before even starting so had to hand-over the reins to John before dashing home to pick up his replacement bike – his wife’s Victoria Pendleton! The verdict, “a good replacement although uncomfortable – the shape of the female saddle took a bit of getting used to”!!! Rejoining the group at the White Buck, Tim lead the ride back from there. Many thanks to John for taking over the reins at the beginning.
And there’s more… a good deal of the route was along gravel cycle tracks. Colin got a puncture (ironically he was on a mountain bike with chunky tyres) and Christine’s chain was causing her a few problems.
Taking in the lovely route along the Ornamental Drive, all riders returned safely at about 3pm – happy & exhausted!
