A BIG thank you to the 14 members who came back so quickly! The consensus is that the Summer Event becomes the ‘Late Summer Event’, postponed to Wednesday 2nd. September due to increlemen…inclemen…….c**p weather! Mel will drop down to Mudeford tomorrow and see if he can rescue the deposit, if not, well que sera, sera! Mel will report back tomorrow. Apologies to those who preferred Thursday, but you were in a small minority. If our luck continues, our Christmas Lunch will be on Feb. 14th!
UPDATE 15/08:
FYI, Mel will circulate our ‘plan-of-action’ tomorrow (16th), with times, places and notes for ‘wet-ones’, ‘dry-ones’ and ‘others’! He will keep everyone updated with weather info. up to Tuesday night, and report any changes to plan.
Thank you for your amazing support…..it makes it all worthwhile!! Happy days – guaranteed or your money back! Mel.
ORIGINAL POST:
The plan will be to run 2 sgrs as a ‘one-off special event’ so we can look back and remember this year for more than the virus! We will start from the Castle in two separate groups, both going to Mudeford Quay. Six hardy souls – well, 5 and me! – will be kitted out to kayak up to Tucton by ‘Shoresports’, the cycle group, lead by Captain Morgan (quite appropriate!) will be there to see us off…and draw lots to see who gets who’s bike if we don’t return!
The idea then is that we meet up at the Riverside Pub by Tucton Bridge for lunch….and then return to sanity! At the moment we have the volunteers listed below for each group, but if you would like to join either, please let me know a.s.a.p. as numbers will be limited for safety and other reasons. I will keep a list of ‘reserved’ members in case some participants are unable to come.
The wet-bunch so far are (I hope all can swim?) :-
Kayaking: Mel, Richard Allam, Pete Cailes, Malcolm, Colin, Louise
Paddle Boarding: Debi & Alex
The dry-bunch are:
Pete Morgan, Julie and Martin…….so at least 3 more riders needed and ‘reserves’
I’m in touch with The Echo for community interest, plus a showcase for the Club activities, within ‘guidelines’, but getting on with life while doom and gloom is all around!
One request I have from all the ‘dry’ participants, is to take as many pics. as you can for the website, Facebook and the 2021 calendar please!
Happy days…oh yes! Mel
